• Identify new strategies for building and maintaining America’s awareness and trust
• Network with credit union leaders
• Attend breakout sessions on the hottest issues in the movement
• Tour the largest vendor showcase in the financial services industry
• Tell Congress our story at state Hike the Hill visits
Please wait for word from Kelly Fuhlbrigge for registration information!
This past year, CUNA and the leagues launched a shared strategic vision for credit unions nationwide: Americans choose credit unions as their best financial partner.
To make our vision a reality, we must come together to remove barriers – like the threat to the credit union tax status – create awareness and foster service excellence. We all need to Unite for Good.
We have an opportunity to accomplish a lot for the movement this year, and need your involvement to make it happen. Come to Washington, D.C. to tell our shared story and protect the credit union difference.
CULCT’s Strategic Partner Cooperative Systems is back to provide an update to one of last year’s more popular sessions on Cybercrime. Presenters will provide an overview of the current environment, what issues are trending and what the credit union can do to ensure they take necessary measures to protect the credit union.
In 2013 the League surveyed credit unions on areas of collaborative interest. The primary area of interest involved IT solutions. We reached out to our Strategic Partner Cooperative Systems and asked them if they would be interested in creating a pricing schedule based on multi-credit union collaboration. This meeting is the beginning of that collaboration discussion. Any credit union that is interested in participating in an IT package collaboration is invited to attend this meeting, which will provide an overview of the concept and look at what the next steps in the process may be.
March 4th, League Education Center, Meriden
We are pleased to announce the 2014 Compliance Training Workshops and Webinar series. Hosted by the Credit Union League of CT and facilitated by the experts at M&M Consulting, LLC, these training workshops and webinars will provide comprehensive understanding of upcoming regulatory changes and assist in providing exciting solutions to the regulatory difficulties Connecticut credit unions are faced with.
This year, in an effort to maximize the benefits of this invaluable guidance, the league will provide the opportunity to attend the webinar portion of the series from the convenience of your credit union. As always, the league is happy to provide the webinars at our office in Meriden at no cost to our affiliated credit unions. If however, you are interested in attending from your credit union, the registration fee is $89.00 per webinar/per incoming telephone line. You may have as many employees who wish to take advantage of any particular webinar attend from your credit union provided they are on the same telephone line for this small cost. Registration to attend either option is required.
M&M Consulting, LLC experts will also serve as facilitators in the Workshop portion of this series. These experts are secure in their knowledge, and confident of their ability to convey pertinent compliance information. Affiliated credit unions will leave our Workshop training sessions with an understanding of how to meet the challenges they face in today’s regulatory environment. The workshops are available to our affiliated credit unions at no additional cost. Dates will be announced and registration is required.
The first webinar in the series focuses on the confusion around the new mortgage regulations. It is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5th 9:00 am – 11:00 am and will provide comprehensive understanding on how these rules affect the mortgage products and services you provide your members, as well as how to comply with the regulations. This is a great opportunity to obtain additional guidance now that the rules have taken effect and the need for implementation grows with more intensity.
Connecticut credit unions expressed interest in learning more about a new product developed through NCUF – Retirement Fairs. This program, similar to a Financial Reality Fair, is a hands-on experiential program for adults thinking about retirement and interested in practicing living on retirement income. Mark Lynch, developer of the program, will provide an overview of the Fair, then attendees will actually participate in the Fair exercise. After the Fair there will be a debrief with an opportunity to ask questions. The program has been developed in a format that credit unions will be able to use with minimal volunteers and bring to membership events to share with their members. Anyone interested in the program for staff, volunteers and/or membership should attend the program to obtain more information.
Join in an evening of comedy and help raise funds for Connecticut Financial Reality Fairs. Four comedians from the greater Hartford area are donating their time to provide an evening of laughs while we raise money to continue credit union’s great work in promoting financial literacy. Bring your checkbook – there will be a silent auction fundraiser in addition to the entertainment.
Eric Rothert, Director of Marketing, from CU Solutions Group will be discussing Marketing Solutions services for CT credit unions (i.e. Marketing Campaigns, Creative and Production Services, Media Production and Placement and Online Services).

The network will focus the first hour on a specific topic (to be determined) and then open the balance of the time to open discussion among attendees. Participants also have the opportunity to communicate through the League WikiPage, established specifically for HR issues and discussion. More information on the WikiPage will be discussed at this meeting.
Individuals new to credit unions are invited to attend this program to gain an understanding of credit unions from the birth of the individual credit union movement through an overview of the current credit union environment. Participants will gain a knowledge of what makes credit unions unique and their role in the world of credit unions. This program is open to staff, management and volunteers.
