In October 2012, NACHA voted in new rules to accommodate requirements of the new landmark healthcare legislation. These amendments to the NACHA Operating Rules allow healthcare plans to send claim (and other) payments to providers in a standardized format, using the CCD standard entry class code and establish rules as to how RDFIs handle requests for remittance information from their provider customers. This session explains the new rules and the obligations of RDFIs, in particular, under the new rules, which will become effective September 20, 2013.
Every week we hear about another data breach, malware download, phishing attack, or other data-security based issue. This session explores the current state of the electronic payments based data security space, the types of breaches being experienced, and the approaches the industry has taken to manage payments-based data security. The ACH Security Rule change effective September 20, 2013 will be reviewed.

Understanding the nature and trends of return items is critical to ACH Origination. Improper handling of exception items may lead to losses or major compliance violations.

Joel was an enthusiastic golfer always “chompin’at the bit” as he often said – to play golf. But for those who knew him so well his ‘chompin’ was on his cigar with his friends. Don’t get this wrong, he also chomped on the golf ball. Golf for Joel was not about birdies or pars but the camaraderie with his friends. “Just tell me what I owe” was an oft said beginning to each round.
It’s in this spirit of Joel’s zest for fun and social that we bring this afternoon of ‘fun’ golf and social. An opportunity to remember our friend, honor our friend, share some stories, and hopefully send a decent donation to Hospice of CT.

Federal Government ACH payments are subject to the same rules as private industry ACH payments, but with exceptions. The Federal Government’s rules are found in the Code of Federal Regulations (31 CFR 210), known as the Green Book. This session focuses on the key issues in processing federal government payments. Mistakes in handling government ACH payments can prove to be very costly.
Remote Deposit Capture continues to expand and evolve in lockstep with new technology, competitive pressures, and customer demand and capture can take place at the branch, at a business location, and by a consumer using a scanner or even a mobile device – upping the ante for risk management. Financial institutions must develop a RDC risk management program commensurate with their risk, following guidelines set by the FFIEC. This session takes a step-by-step approach, walking participants through the requirements and ensuring an understanding of what’s required.
Nick will provide attendees with a BSA overview on the following topics:
- BSA purpose and applicability;
- Minimal NCUA/FinCEN requirements for BSA compliance;
- Member Identification Programs;
- Member Due Diligence;
- Situations covered by SARs;
- Tips on completing CTRs and SARs;
- SAR and CTR safe harbors;
- SAR confidentiality;
- Penalties for failing to comply with SAR and CTR requirements; and
- Compliance with OFAC.
