The Connecticut Credit Union Charitable Foundation is a nonprofit organization comprising a voluntary board of trustees who represent Connecticut credit unions through charitable giving.
The Foundation primarily advocates “Feeding the Needy” throughout Connecticut. During challenging economic conditions, supplies at Connecticut food pantries are tenuous at best, often fluctuating dangerously low, while food is needed throughout the year for adults and children.
In addition, the Foundation recognizes the needs of others who are less fortunate and donates a portion of its fundraising proceeds to local charities as well.
The Foundation has been helping Connecticut residents in need since 1980. The majority of the funds are used to purchase food that is delivered to the Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare:
- The Connecticut Food Bank serves Fairfield, Litchfield, New Haven, New London, Middlesex, and Windham counties.
- Foodshare serves Hartford and Tolland counties.
A portion of the funds is used to sponsor the Boys & Girls Club Youth-of-the-Year Event. This is a youth recognition program that promotes and celebrates Club members’ service to the Club, the community, and family as well as academic performance, spiritual values, life goals and poise, and public speaking ability.
What’s more, the Foundation supports other worthy causes brought to the trustees’ attention through the media or by direct contact from individuals or organizations. Please refer to the Events, Recipients, and Media sections of this website for information.
