Summary/Objective: Oversees the accounting and payment processing functions of a 40-million-dollar financial institution.

Manages the company's financial accounts, payroll, budget, cash receipts and financial assets. Handles the company's transactions and debts and does cash flow forecasting. Performs the company's financial audits. Follows proper accounting procedures to reach financial objectives.

Job Summary

The manager of accounting is responsible for producing timely and accurate financial statements, as well as ensuring strong internal controls of the Credit Union. This position is responsible for acting as lead on more complex and/or cross-functional projects, advising, and assisting other departments in how their initiatives will impact and drive financial results.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares timely and accurate monthly financial reports for management and the Board of Directors, in addition to the quarterly Call Report
  • Ensures integrity within the financial statements.
  • Assigns, directs, and reviews the work and performance of assigned staff.
  • Maintains responsibility for the daily accounting and balancing functions ensuring that controls are operating as intended.
  • Produces various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for all stakeholders of the Credit Union.
  • Ensures timely and accurate filing of various regulatory and IRS reports.
  • Assists with annual audits performed by internal, external, and regulatory auditors.
  • Mentors and develops team members to ensure performance success.
  • Assists in special projects related to the accounting function as assigned by management.
  • Complies with applicable laws and regulations, to include the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Will act as the backup BSA officer.
  • Work on ongoing improvements to policies and procedures related to accounting and general ledger.

Required Qualifications

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience combined with:
  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience
  • Management experience preferred
  • A representation of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this job competently is as follows:
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUP required; Macros preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills
  • Knowledge and proficient application of accounting principles and guidance.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to recognize variances in accounts.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies and articulately summarize explanations for management review.
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize multiple tasks to accommodate strict deadlines.

Salary Range is 72,000 – 80,000 depending on experience.
