The New Haven Police and Municipal Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced and driven leader with a progressive outlook to manage our financial institution. Our optimal candidate should have very strong back-office experience covering all facets of credit union daily operations. Some accounting background is very much welcomed, but not mandatory. This position reports to the Board of Directors. We are seeking a self-propelled individual who can lead our small credit union through knowledge of working trends in the financial industry. This is an exciting opportunity complete with paid time off and negotiable benefits and salary based upon experience. 

The Office Manager’s responsibility includes the supervision, task assignment, training and motivation of our employees alongside an Assistant Manager who will assist with these efforts. Our small office setting demands a collaborative work environment fueled by teamwork. As the team leader you are responsible for the balanced structure of cohesive employees working together to achieve goals set forth by the Board of Directors, in compliancewith the National Credit Union Association.

Salary: $52,000 

What is expected of the Office Manager?

  • Have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, management, or a related field and/or equivalent experience in the credit union industry.
  • Strong comprehension of general ledger input and ability to read a profit and loss statement. 
  • Managerial experience to utilize independent judgement and discretion in interpreting policies and procedures for daily operations and problem solving while maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Oversee the operations of the credit union, ensuring efficiency, quality control, and excellent member service.
  • Supervises and directs the employees and daily operations of the branch to ensure compliance with defined policies and procedures and all applicable federal laws and regulations.
  • Daily opening of the cash vault and ensure that the tellers have their cash boxes before the credit union opens and have access to vault cash throughout the day. 
  • Maintains branch vault, forthcoming ATM and/or cash dispenser; order, verifies and balances incoming and outgoing money; sends checks to the bank; and ensures that all cash boxes are returned at the end of the day. 
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Process payroll.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills to maintain strong oversight of office operations. 
  • Preparation and presentation of reports detailing the credit union’s financial status and operations to the Board of Directors.
  • Have reliable transportation to conduct banking business. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote growth and meet the financial goals of the credit union.
  • Assist in resolving member disputes and concerns, ensuring the highest level of member satisfaction.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of new trends and advancements in the field of banking and finance.
  • Process monthly operating expenses and maintain supporting documentation to track spending. 
  • Understand a General Ledger, Profit & Loss Statement, and Quarterly Call Report requirements. 
  • Ensures the appropriate management of cash operations, and the overall control and security of negotiable instruments and other monetary items. 
  • Provides assistance to members to include opening and modifying accounts, balance information, purchase of products and redemptions, account and loan processing and modifications.
  • Ability to meet deadlines of mandatory filings.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of information. 
  • Develop a reciprocal working relationship with Credit Union Board Members, NCUA Examiner, Consultants, Auditors and Accountants.
  • Develop business relationships with department heads citywide for efforts toward collaborations to ultimately grow the membership. 
  • Implement planning strategy to advance the credit union’s services and membership.
  • Time and attendance, not including unforeseen illness and planned leaves of absence.
  • Accept the condition that future employment is based upon your successful grasp of the ShareTec operating system that governs the business of this credit union and back-office functions.
