The Chief Operations Officer (COO) is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the Credit Union, focusing on member interactions, front office services, lending operations, and employee education. This role is crucial for developing and enforcing policies, managing various operational aspects like purchasing and security, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The COO also plays a key role in staff development, performance management, and maintaining high service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Department Planning and Leadership: Guide departmental operations and coach managers.
  • Member Relations: Ensure excellent member service and assist in resolving issues.
  • Training and Development: Organize training to improve skills across departments.
  • Operations Oversight: Create and enforce operational plans and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Loan Administration: Oversee loan processing and related functions.
  • Staff Management: Handle staffing and scheduling.
  • Professional Relations and Security: Maintain professional standards and secure Credit Union assets.
  • Performance Management: Conduct staff appraisals, manage records, and address performance issues.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure adherence to security protocols and regulations, including BSA/AML.
  • Additional Duties: Keep up with industry trends, complete special projects, and represent the President/CEO when necessary.

Performance Metrics:

  • Efficient management of front office operations within budget.
  • Regular updates to policies to match Credit Union strategies.
  • Effective departmental communication and coordination.
  • Implementation of quality control and maintenance of service excellence.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification: College degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Required Knowledge: Understanding of finance, operations, and regulations.
  • Experience: Prior management experience in a credit union or financial institution.
  • Skills: Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
