President's Message

Summer winds down this week (actually, today begins meteorological fall)(actually also, were seasons even a thing in 2020?). While we gear up for a busy year-end, let’s take this week to breathe... and to make space in our lives to listen into the quiet.

Growing up, my mother’s bedroom mirror had a sticker on it that said “Hysut?” I wondered what it meant for years, but when I asked, my mother looked at me and deadpanned, “Have You Shut Up Today?”

So today, I’m shutting up.

I’m quieting my internal dialog and limiting my contributions to the external one. More times than I care to admit, I have had to learn that the answers to many of my challenges were all around me, if only I had listened more carefully. And listening carefully requires me, first and foremost, to shut up.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of summer’s end,
Bruce
