President's Message

Today, July 14, is The French holiday of Bastille Day. It represents the coming together of a nation in its rejection of the tyranny of an absolute monarchy. In other words, it is a symbol of unity and togetherness in the face of oppression. While there are many other nuances and facets of the French Revolution to discuss another day, today we can take a lesson from this historical moment about strength in numbers and the power of a unified group to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.

All across the world, we fight a faceless but lethal enemy. We can see across the United States that the enemy, once weakened, has regained strength and now grabs new territory. We are Financial First Responders and we have a mission to carry out. We must serve our communities with greater vigor. We must help even more people to weather this crisis and emerge financially healthy.

Here in Connecticut, it is easy to rest on our laurels thinking that our hard work earlier this spring will keep the virus at our borders. But we will get whipsawed for our complacency if we do not pull together even tighter going into the summer and fall.

  • The League has strong access to PPE and we can help you get what you need

  • We have a new partnership to help to monitor your lobbies and offices for COVID

  • We have marketing resources to help you reach more people with your message

  • We have sentries posted at the gates of government to make sure you are not hampered in your efforts to carry out your missions

  • And we are working harder than ever to make the state commit to providing this next generation of young adults with financial literacy education

Join us. Together we are stronger. Together we will rise.

As always, Bruce
