President's Message
Labor Day Vibes
Americans often look at Labor Day as a way to recognize the many contributions our workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. OK fine. Well, that’s a good thing, but it only scratches the surface of an otherwise rich history chock full of material to help today’s workers (both labor and management) grow and succeed.
Click through because today’s message is short and sweet. And I promise it wont ruin your BBQ with thoughts of 19th century’s brutal working conditions.
…Upton Sinclair’s 1906 novel The Jungle will do that for you just fine. Or just head over to YouTube for a little pre-cookout bummer.
The first Labor Day parade took place on September 5, 1882, when 10,000 New York City workers took unpaid time off to march from City Hall to Union Square. This year let’s celebrate the power of unity and togetherness. Credit Unions are champions of community — of bringing people together in service to one another. Your League celebrates you and your members this Labor Day and throughout the year.
But after watching that YouTube video, we may be laying off the hotdogs for a while…
As always,
Bruce
