President's Message

This coming Friday (September 24) the League will host our 10th Annual CULAC Wine Gala. Personally, this should be my third time attending but last year’s event was canceled due to a ...ahem... global pandemic.

As many of you know, the wine gala is always a great time to connect with one another, visit with old friends, meet new ones, and raise a glass in mutual affiliation. The way it works is that the League hosts the event and, in turn, attendees are encouraged to donate to the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) which is our national Political Action Committee that supports our federal delegation.

Connecticut’s support for CULAC has helped us to build a rock-solid relationship with our Congressional delegation over the past several years. We are consistently greeted warmly and – more importantly – closely listened to by our elected officials. But for Connecticut’s credit unions, this relationship is equal parts legislatively important and hometown practical. Through our sustained support for this delegation, credit unions have a friend (actually, 7 friends) in Washington D.C. we can call on for help with a local problem or an issue. Knowing there will be someone on the other of that phone who will both listen to us and help us gives us greater comfort that these friends will be there for us when we need a hand.

Successful legislative advocacy begins at home. You will hear from the League this fall as we ask for your help in building Connecticut’s legislative agenda, and we encourage you to answer our call with enthusiastic support.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday night.

As always,
Bruce
