Dutch Point Credit Union celebrated Mother’s Day weekend with a Free Shred Day at their Niantic Branch.

Credit Union members and community residents were eagerly waiting in the parking lot as much as 40 minutes before the event started to be sure their confidential documents and sensitive information would be safely destroyed. Dutch Point collected 3,300 pounds of paper and the day couldn’t have been any nicer. The sun was shining with a warm breeze coming off the Niantic Bay, and there were many appreciative members and community residents who took advantage of this service.

“As a credit union we are dedicated to the community,” said Dutch Point Credit Union Chief Member Experience Officer Anthony Sacchetti. “Also, now more than ever, with identity theft on the rise, it’s critical that people have an option to securely shred documents that contain personal information such as social security and credit card numbers.”

Dutch Point has been offering Free Shred Days for well over a decade. The paper will be recycled into reusable items such as paper plates, tissue, wrapping paper and gray board. With each passing year, more and more people are taking advantage of shred day community events. Dutch Point is proud to support the environment by providing this valuable service and will continue to do so for many, many more years to come.
