Dutch Point Credit Union Raises $5,250 for Credit Union Kids@Heart

For the third consecutive year, Dutch Point Credit Union in Wethersfield, Connecticut participated in Credit Union Kids@Heart, raising $5,250 and supporting several local businesses along the way. The All Ability Challenge asks participants to walk, run or roll specific distances, as well as commit good deeds during the challenge period.

Dutch Point’s key management team – aka the Blue Crew - accepted the 5K walk and good deeds challenge, and chose to complete them by walking through Old Wethersfield and distributing gift cards to residents. The credit union purchased the gift cards from two local restaurants – Aroma Bistro and Lenoci’s Italian Kitchen. The Blue Crew also supported two other local restaurants – Lucky Lou’s and The Charles - by enjoying lunch at those establishments following the goodwill walk.

“Spreading goodwill during the physical part of the challenge was a fun way to raise money and awareness of Credit Union Kids@Heart with their All Ability Challenge and their mission to help children lead healthy and happy lives,” said Dutch Point President and CEO Charlyn Tanner. “Dutch Point is committed to giving back to our community and helping those less fortunate. We are both member-focused and community driven. We promote causes and advocate for activities that have a positive impact on our community. The money raised came from staff, member and vendor donations.”

Credit Union Kids@Heart is a charitable organization founded by Eastern Corporate Federal Credit Union, one of Dutch Point’s corporate partners. The non-profit raises awareness of and funding for scientific research aimed at preventing, treating and/or curing pediatric neurological diseases including: Moyamoya Disease, Cerebral Palsy, Pediatric Brain Cancer and Pediatric Epilepsy and other seizure disorders. The money raised by Dutch Point will go toward medical research and clinical trials conducted at Boston Children's Hospital for children around the world.
