President Message
Listening With Purpose
Since returning from my extended medical leave on April 1, I have made it a priority to visit directly with CEOs and others within Connecticut’s credit unions to reconnect and relearn what matters to our members the most. Thank you for helping the League gain fresh insight into the challenges and opportunities you’re facing in 2025. We are here for you.
Just today, I met with a smaller credit union that is facing a challenge to navigate an out of state repo with extra complex circumstances. I offered to reach out to the League in that state and hopefully connect them with local resources. From operational support to advocacy outreach, one theme has come through loud and clear: our credit unions value the comfort they feel in having a partnership with a League that is both an effective problem solver and a strong industry advocate.
Through these visits, we’ve deepened our understanding of what matters most to you—and we will continue to bring that feedback directly to policymakers. Whether it’s protecting your tax status, improving regulatory frameworks, or pushing for financial literacy in schools, we’re advocating with purpose and with your input at the center.
If you would like to meet with me or anyone else here at the League, please reach out! We are happy to break bread, lift a glass, or roll up our sleeves to help you find solutions for your credit union.
This week, we had the pleasure of hosting our Fairfield Regional Meeting, where we had a fantastic opportunity to network, collaborate, and connect with local credit unions from the bottom-left corner of Connecticut. Thank you for showing up in masse – next time we will have to reserve a bigger space!
On a personal note, it is inspiring to hear about all the great work you have done over the past six months that I have been out of commission. You are not only strengthening communities and your members, but you are laying the ground work for continued growth of Connecticut’s Credit Unions systemwide. I can feel the excitement and hope in your voices and it has lifted my spirits as I navigate my path to full recovery.
We remain committed to staying connected, showing up, and championing the credit union movement across Connecticut. Join us however and wherever you can.
Be sure to tune in this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. on CT 25 with Eric Parker on WFSB, where John Holt and I will continue advocating for preservation of our tax status and shining a spotlight on the essential role credit unions play in supporting financial well-being across our great state.
Thank you for your continued partnership. Together, we’re building a future where credit unions thrive—and every member benefits.
As always,
Bruce
