A Transformative Experience at the 2025 World Credit Union Conference
Attending and presenting at the 2025 World Credit Union Conference in beautiful Stockholm, Sweden, was, without question, the most impactful conference experience of my more than two-decade career.
From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped by the warm, welcoming, and authentically inclusive spirit of this global gathering. With nearly 2,000 attendees representing 60 countries, the energy was palpable. Diverse voices, shared purpose, and a profound pride in being part of something bigger than ourselves: the global credit union movement.
The conference offered more than professional development; it was a personal and professional renewal. Engaging in deep conversations, witnessing innovation from across the globe, and seeing firsthand how credit unions are transforming communities reignited my passion and commitment to this movement. It reminded me why we do what we do—why it matters.
One of the most humbling and unforgettable highlights was presenting my session, "Shaping the Future: Cultivating Long-Term Sustainability in Credit Unions with Young Leaders," moderated by the exceptional Vanessa Kuduk. I was also privileged to look out in the crowd and see two of my mentors, BJ Paul and Kathy Chartier. The energy in the room was inspiring. To have the opportunity to share my vision with peers from around the world was an absolute honor and a career high point I will never forget.
I was proud to stand on that stage representing the United States, and our Connecticut Credit Unions. To be among so many passionate changemakers, each bringing a unique lens, but united in purpose, was a powerful reminder of the strength of our cooperative model and our shared future.
To the incredible team here at the League: thank you for the encouragement and support to share my vision on the world's stage about the next generation of credit union leaders. To the organizers, speakers, and participants: thank you for creating such an extraordinary experience. I have returned home reinvigorated, grateful, and more committed than ever to building a sustainable, inclusive future for our credit unions and the communities we serve.
